JOHANNESBURG - There was
drama inside and outside the Eastern Cape High Court on Tuesday.
Flamboyant Pastor Timothy Omotoso and his two
co-accused appeared in court for alleged crimes of human trafficking, sexual
assault, and rape of over 60 girls and women since 2009.
However, the
three accused refused to enter their pleas, forcing judge Mandela
Makaula to intervene.
Meanwhile,
two off-duty policewomen, who are congregants of the Jesus Dominion
International Church, misrepresented themselves as ‘protocol observers’ in order to force their way into the packed
courtroom.
The police then discovered that they were misled
by the two women, and asked them to leave, but they refused, causing the
police officials to physically drag one of the women of the premises.
The Durban
based pastor’s supporters were excited to see him. They gathered outside the
court premises, with some being entertained by a group of marchers.
If convicted,
Pastor Omotoso could be facing a life sentence for each count.
