Veteran Broadcaster, Goke Akinlabi Dies at 87

Veteran broadcaster, Elder Goke Akinlabi has died. Sources close to the Akinlabi family of Ibadan revealed to The Anchor Online that the well respected broadcaster breathed his last around 11.30 pm on Monday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. He reportedly took ill and had to be taken to the hospital on Monday evening. He was 87.
Akinlabi, born as Joseph Olagoke Akinlabi had a career that made him famous at the Nigerian Television Authority, Ibadan.
Back in the early 1980s, he anchored Agbonrandun, a programme that was the darling of the oppressed and downtrodden because it gave them a voice against oppressors. Through the programme, conflicts were resolved and many issue settled amicably.
Family sources have told The Anchor Online that burial arrangements will be announced in due course.
