Alleged N 7.7 m Fraud: Court Adjourns EFCC's Case Against Ibadan Bizman, Alhaji Adeyemi Again

A High Court, sitting in Ibadan has adjourned the case between the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Alhaji Ibrahim Adesina Adeyemi to 10th April, 2018.
Adeyemi is being prosecuted sequel to a petition received by the anti-graft commission on 12th July, 2017 from one Mr. Kazeem Olalekan Lawal and his wife, Abimbola, through their lawyer, Barrister Olubunmi Atitebi, alleging Alhaji Ibrahim Adeyemi of defrauding the complainants of the sum of N 7.7 million.

The presiding judge, Justice Ladiran Akintola of court 11, had at an earlier hearing, adjourned the case to 10th February, 2018 for further hearing.
The prosecutor, ASP Sarumi Adeyemi of the Intelligence and Special Operation Section of the EFCC, explained that the Commission received a petition from the complainants, Mr and Mrs Lawal, in which it was alleged that the defendants, Alhaji Ibrahim Adeyemi duped them of N 7.7 million meant for the procurement of generating sets and units of air conditioner for an event centre.
The petitioners also  alleged that N 1.2 million out of the money was meant for the completion of the event center.
ASP Sarumi noted that the   Commission upon receiving the petition, invited Alhaji Adeyemi, who adopted the petition by making a voluntary statement.
The prosecutor further stated that Alhaji Adeyemi had confessed to the complainants that he had borrowed their money by investing it in real estate business, and promised to pay back upon the maturity of his investment but after failing severally to fulfill his promises, the petition became necessary.
Meanwhile, the counsel to the defendant has earlier sought for an out of court settlement, which was objected to by the EFCC counsel, Barrister Galadanchi S. M, who based his argument on the inability of Alhaji Adeyemi to appear before the Commission on seven different invitations.
Alhaji Ibrahim Adesina, who is currently on bail, was arrested by operatives of the EFCC on 18th July, 2017.
