Ondo: Appeal Court Names Jegede as PDP Candidate

Reprieve
came the way of Eyitayo Jegede as the Court of Appeal named him as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP ahead of the Ondo governorship poll.
The appellate court dismissed all objections filed by the respondents, Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim and the factional chairman of the party.
The court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to return Eyitayo Jegede's name as the authentic PDP candidate as it described Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim as an impostor.

The Court of Appeal set aside the Order by Justice of Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja that forced INEC to replace Hon. Jegede's name with Barr. Jimoh Ibrahim, describing Okon Abang as 'Father Christmas'

The Court also held that what took place at Justice Okon Abang ' s Court was a "charade, fraud, a violent, attitudinal disposition to the Rule of Law and a damning, deprecatory attack".

The Court then fined the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the sum of 20,000 Naira only for obeying Justice Abang ' s Order.

The Court also fined all the 9 respondents in the Case,  that is Barr.  Jimoh Ibrahim and co the sum of 15,000 Naira each.
With the court judgment, the race is now between Olusola Oke, Eyitayo Jegede, Rotimi Akeredolu and Dr. Olu Agunloye. As it stands, the faction of the PDP supporting Jimoh Ibrahim might end up working against Jegede while some aggrieved aspirants of the All Progressives Congress are likely to move against Akeredolu.
