2 Arrested For Robbery on Lagos-Ibadan Long Bridge

Two armed robbery suspects, who are members of a robbery gang terrorizing motorists on the long bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan express road have been arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command. The Command's spokesman, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi disclosed to The Anchor Online that "the suspects were arrested while operating on the bridge on Thursday night. The victims sent a distress call to the Police and the DPO, Warewa Division, SP Akinola Eludini who was at the other end of the bridge as at that time with his anti-robbery men on surveillance patrol quickly raced to the scene".
Oyeyemi stated that 'on sighting the policemen, the hoodlums took to their heels, but two of them namely; Ibrahim Yusuf and Uche Onwuemea were arrested while others escaped.
The two suspects are currently undergoing interrogation and they are helping us on our investigation", the PPRO confirmed.
Meanwhile, in view of the ongoing construction work along Lagos-Ibadan express road, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered the deployment of more police operatives along that axis especially the long bridge in order to ensure adequate security for people plying the road. CP Iliyasu also appealed to members of the public to always give necessary and timely information to the police whenever a strange movement is noticed.
