Fake Assistant Comptroller of Customs, Police Inspector Arrested on Duty!


The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a fake Assistant Comptroller of Customs who has been using the Service uniform to extort money from unsuspecting members of the public. 
The Command's Public Relations Officer, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi stated that "the suspect, Wasiu Ariyo, was arrested when he wrote a letter on Custom letter head paper to Nestle Nigeria Plc, Agbara requesting for 100 empty plastic or steel drums. The company management after approving his request became suspicious in the way and manner the suspect collected the drums and subsequently alerted the Police. 
 The company was advised to lure him back to come and collect the remaining drums, as soon as he came, detectives from Agbara Division promptly got him arrested in full Custom uniform. On interrogation, the suspect confessed being a fake Custom officer. He confirmed that he had been a Customs officer before and he was dismissed from the service in 2010".

In a related development, a fake Police Inspector was arrested by Policemen attached to Mowe Division. The suspect, Victoria David was arrested when she approached the DPO Mowe and introduced herself as a serving Police Inspector attached to a Division in Rivers State. Oyeyemi stated that "the DPO who doubted the authenticity of her claim quickly made a phone call to the Division she claimed to be serving and was told that such name does not exist there. She was promptly arrested and on interrogation, the Kogi State born woman confessed that she has never been a Police Officer in her life and that she bought the uniform and identity card in Port Harcourt".
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered a thorough investigation into the two cases and the two suspects charged to court as soon as possible.
