'Osun Job Centre, a Fraud, Misstep'- PDP

The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has described the Job Centre recently inaugurated by the state governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as a "fraud and another misstep from a straying administration".
It would be recalled that Governor Aregbesola had recently commissioned for use a centre in Osogbo to assist unemployed youths search for job in the labour market.
However, the opposition party, in a statement signed by Prince Diran Odeyemi, its spokesperson, said it was "bizarre that the Aregbesola administration that could not pay salaries and pensions of workers and retirees, would embark on another round of wasteful spendings through a multi million naira centre to assist unemployed youths get jobs that are not created or available."

The PDP said Aregbesola's administration that first introduced "half salary" before other states started copying the idea, had tried its hands on many other initiatives to engage youths without success. The party went on to ask the administration to explain what gains O'Yes and other programmes have brought to the state.
The statement reads: "Mr. Aregbesola from our findings must have been seeing job centres in advanced countries of the world and thought introducing such would halt his falling popularity among the people of the state"
"Imagine if monies expended on the project were spent on clearing the backlog of salaries owed youth engaged through the O'Yes scheme and other failed initiatives, the beneficiaries would not have been plunged into deeper economic crises as they are experiencing now, after accepting to sweep streets even with their degrees".
"Instead of embarking on fresh rounds of groping in the dark through ill conceived initiatives, we advise Aregbesola to call a meeting of stakeholders for advise on the way forward"
"We also want to seize this opportunity to call on the governor to come clean about the debt portfolio of the state"
"If in the month of May, Osun state still owes over N300 million in deficit after over N2billion was deducted from its April Federation Account allocation it then means the state's indebtedness must be far above imagination."
While urging Aregbesola to appoint Commissioners and "change tactics since all fresh efforts to con the people have failed", the PDP then assured Osun people of its readiness to provide sincere leadership that will make their wellbeing a priority.
