ISIS names Abu Musa al Barnawi as new Boko Haram leader

According to reports monitored on the BBC indicates, the Islamic State, better known as ISIS, has announced a new leader for the terrorist group, Boko Haram which has become its West African affiliate.
Abu Musab al-Barnawi, who was previously spokesman for the Nigerian-based Islamists, has been named as the new leader of the organization. He is featured in the latest issue of an IS magazine.

The group was however silent on what has become of the group's former leader Abubakar Shekau.
The last time Shekau appeared or spoke openly was via an audio message last August, saying he was alive and had not been replaced - an IS video released in April said the same.
Though the Nigerian military continues its onslaught against the group which started as a sect and has been able to recover most of the territories the group occupied in the North Eastern part of Nigeria, the group still carries out isolated attacks occasionally.
