PDP National Convention to Hold on August 17

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Thursday held an expanded caucus meeting at the Yar' Adua Centre, Abuja.
Various issues concerning the party were discussed and several decisions taken. 
There, it was resolved that the party's National Convention will hold on the 17th of August, 2016 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

A Committee was constituted to work out a new zoning arrangement for national offices with the consideration of the National Chairman zoned to the South having approved Zoning for Presidency to the North at the last National Convention.
A National Reconciliation Committee was also constituted at the meeting to continue on the reconciliation efforts in the party headed by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu. 
The party's convention, held in May ended in a stalemate with Senators Ali Modu Sheriff and Ahmed Makarfi claiming leadership of the PDP. Legal actions were instituted while the national secretariat of the party went under lock shortly after.
