Shooting Stars FC, on Monday got a suitable replacement for Coach Gbenga Ogunbote who left for Giwa FC.
Former international, Kadiri Ikhana agreed to the club's offer after hours
of negotiation between football stakeholders in Oyo State, including the Chairman House Committee on
Sports, Hon Fatai Adesina, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths and Sports,
Mrs. Lolade Agboola, the Chairman 3SC Supporters Club, Alhaji. Sina Inolaji and
the Chairman Oyo State Football Association, Chief James Odeniran.
One of the terms agreed to by Ikhana was a pay cut. He however insisted on using hotel accommodation as against the residential arrangement earlier made by the club.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports,
Mrs. Lolade Agboola who led the negotiation team however, gave the coach a target,
which is a continental ticket for the team at the end of the season.
The former CAF coach of the year, while reacting to the
development asked for the cooperation of every stakeholder in the state,
especially the General Manager of the club, Rashidi Balogun, stressing that Ibadan
football terrace is known to be a volatile one because of the strong passion
the people have for the club and only cooperation from all and sundry can bring
the much expected result.
The Oyo State Head of Service, Mr. Soji Eniade who hosted the
new coach and the negotiating team in his office moments after the deal was
brokered charged 3SC management to henceforth see football from a business point
of view and cultivate how to use the venture to generate revenue for the government.
“With the situation in the country, every government agency should look inward and fashion out how to increase its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) drives, and football globally is a money spinning venture if well managed.
“Thank God we now have a renowned Coach like Kadiri Ikanna that had made his mark in Nigerian football, now we should use every opportunity to
our advantage so that we can achieve the dream of getting a continental ticket
at the end of the season and the club could generate good revenue for the government”,
the HoS noted.
