Groom jailed for battering bridesmaids at his own wedding

Samatha Dewar was left with a shattered cheekbone
A GROOM has been jailed for 12 months today for battering two bridesmaids at his wedding reception - leaving one needing facial surgery.
Thug John Campbell, 27, flattened pretty Samantha Dewar following a drunken row after his wedding.
Campbell, who was drunk and had snorted a gram of cocaine, first punched bridesmaid Rachel Walsh, 23, when she got involved in argument about him driving home after the reception.
The brute then lashed out at mum-of-two Samantha, 26, when she tried to ask him what was going on.

CCTV footage shows Campbell fuming and trying to be calmed down by new wife Nicola, 26.
He then storms out of the picture before returning into view as he is approached by Samantha – who he floors with one punch, breaking her left cheek bone.
The bridesmaid can be seen hitting the floor of the car park and then Nicola, wearing a white wedding dress with a 6ft train, then rushes to the aid of her bridesmaid and best friend.

Sentencing Campbell, who admitted grievous bodily harm at Chester Crown Court, Judge Roger Dutton said: "Without entertaining any conversation with her you turned and punched her full in the face.
"A punch of some ferocity. The consequence was that she was laid flat." The judge said the groom had been "fuelled by drink and drugs".
As he was sentenced to 12 months, Campbell, wearing a grey shirt and with a tattoo on his neck, simply nodded at the judge.
Jayne Morris, prosecuting, told the court how the blow smashed the victim’s left cheekbone, leaving her needing surgery and a metal plate in her face.
She said the incident started at around 1am on September 13, last year, after the reception ended at the Masonic Hall in Macclesfield, Cheshire.

As Miss Dewar left the party she heard shouting and crying, the court heard.
She went to the car park and saw Rachel Walsh was vomiting and was “upset and crying”.
The bride was stood next to her and was also in tears and Miss Walsh revealed she had been punched by the angry groom.
Miss Dewar said Campbell was “angry” and that his face was “screwed up” as he shouted at Miss Walsh.
When she asked what had been going on the thug turned to face her and “without warning” swung a haymaker at her.
“The next thing she recalled is being on her back with her friend standing over her,” Miss Morris said.
In a victim impact statement read to the court, Miss Dewar said: “As a result of the assault I was extremely anxious. My sleep has been affected, I have bad dreams and wake up crying.”
She said she was scared of going out in case she bumped into the defendant and that her face still feels numb after the surgery.
