The Inspector-General of
Police, IGP Solomon Arase showered encomium on officers and men of
the Ogun State Command on Thursday while addressing them at the Police
Officers Wives Association Secretariat Eleweran Abeokuta.
The
Inspector-General Police, who was on a 2-day working visit to Ogun
State,arrived the state on Wednesday and paid courtesy visits to former President, Chief
Olusegun Obasanjo, the
Governor of Ogun State,Senator Ibikunle Amosun,and His Majesty,Oba
Adedotun Aremu Gbedebo,the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland,who is
presently celebrating the 10th anniversary of his coronation in his
Abeokuta palace.
The police boss,who was accompanied by the Assistant Inspector-General of
Police in Charge, Zone 2 Lagos, AIG Bala Hassan, Force Public Relations
Officer,ACP Bisi Kolawole, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Police
Mobile Force, Abuja,ACP Abiodun Alabi and others,however warned against
any act of indiscipline,unprofessionalism,corrupt practices,disrespect
for people's fundamental human rights,and acts capable of denting
the image of the police. IGP Arase vowed to dismiss and prosecute any
member of the force who unjustly shoots and kills innocent Nigerians.
At
the Command Headquartes Eleweran Abeokuta,after the inspection of guard
of honour mounted to usher in the IGP , he pronounced
the promotions of all the personnel who turned out the guards as he was
overwhelmed by their performances. In the same vein, the IGP announced
scholarship prizes for twelve pupils of the Police Children
School,Eleweran Abeokuta,who added colour to his visit with a lovely parade.
With
his vision to promote community-based policing, the Inspector General of Police addressed stakeholders at the Police\ Officers
Mess,Ibara,GRA,Abeokuta,. He appreciated them for their support
and commitment at all times. He also took time to entertain series of questions from
them to clarify issues and to profer solutions to some of the lingering
matters/cases within Ogun State.
IGP
Solomon Arase then seized the opportunity to assess the level of
preparedness of the police towards the burial of Mama HID Awolowo with
his visit to mama's hometown in Ikenne-Remo. He ordered for
thorough security in conjunction with other security agencies in the
state. He also assisted in releasing some equipment to augment the
available security apparatus on ground in Ikenne and Ogun State
generally, for use during the burial and after.
The IG has since departed Ogun State to attend to other security issues.
