Balogun's Death Positions K1's Producer as Olubadan Apparent

High Chief Omiyale
While Ibadan mourns the exit of its well esteemed Balogun, High Chief Suleman Adegboyega Omiyale, who until his death was next in line to the Olubadan, the event has positioned notable businessman, Alhaji Saliu Adetunji as the Olubadan apparent.
With the uniqueness of the Olubadan succession system, the next in line is known even before the exit of any monarch. Thanks to the well structured chieftaincy arrangement, thereby making Ibadan one of the very few cities where obaship matters are never taken to court.

Since the reigning monarch, Oba Samuel Ishola Odulana Odugade is of the Otun line, it automatically means the next Olubadan will come from the Balogun line. And with the Balogun's exit, the Otun Balogun, who is next in line will assume the position of Balogun, subject to the ratification of Kabiyesi the Olubadan and members of his advisory council.
High Chief Adettunji, the Balogun-in-waiting owns a number of companies, including the famous Babalaje Records (fomerly known as Adetunji Omo Aje Records)which produced a number of albums of the Fuji King, K1 de Ultimate, including Baby Je Ka Jo (1986) and My Dear Mother (1988).
The Obaship position of Ibadan is ratated between the Otun and Balogun lines and the five most senior chiefs on both lines and the Iyalode make up the Olubadan advisory council.
The most senior chiefs on the Otun line are : High Chief Omowale Kuye - Otun Olubadan, High Chief (Senator) Lekan Balogun - Osi Olubadan, High Chief (Senator) Rashidi Ladoja - Ashipa Olubadan, High Chief Eddy Oyewole Foko - Ekerin Olubadan and High Chief Sulaiman Abiodun Kola-Daisi. While on the Balogun line, the most senior chiefs now are High Chief Saliu A. O Adetunji, High Chief Akinloye Olakuleyin, High Chief Olufemi Olaifa, High Chief Tajudeen Ajibola and High Chief S. Adabale
