The
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Osun State chapter has advised Governor
Rauf Aregbesola to "wake from him prolonged slumber" and tackle myriad
of problems confronting the people.
The
party said it was compelled to give the advice after observing that
since the governor was reelected last year, no serious governance
has taken place, even in the face of damming challenges facing its
people.
The
PDP in a statement issued in Osogbo yesterday by Prince Diran Odeyemi,
its spokesperson, said rather than giving attention to many problems
facing Osun, "majority of which were caused by Mr. Governor himself, he
always jumps out of the state at the slightest opportunity."
The
opposition party said Governor Aregbesola's presence at the launch of new
set of BRT buses in Lagos last week, should challenge the governor and
nudge him out of slumber.
"If
Akunwumi Ambode, who got to office 6 months ago could be launching such
a project, the whole world needs to ask Aregbesola what he has been doing
in the last one year that even state cabinet was not formed.
"From
all indications, governance has been on long vacation in Osun state and
this is taking negative toll on all of us except the few that are
directly benefiting from the rot as consultants"
"We
however implore Mr. Aregbesola to be alive to his responsibility and
start initiating programmes that will guarantee better living before it
will be too late, " the party concluded.
