The Ogun State Police Command has debunked rumours that it has abandoned the officer who was shot in the recent robbery at Agbara in which two other policemen lost their lives.
In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Friday, the command described the allegation that the officer had been abandoned as "false" and "unfounded".
Below is the text of the statement:
"The attention of the Ogun State Police Command has been drawn to a false and unfounded story in a Nigerian newspaper and social media that the affected police corporal,Godwin Ebhadoghe, who was shot by armed robbers that attacked a bank in Agbara area of Ogun State on 19th November, has been abandoned at the hospital.

The Command wishes to state
categorically that the story or rumour was false and baseless as those
who originated the falsehood were mischievous and did so for reasons best
known to them.
addition, it's certain that the Insurance section of the Nigeria Police Force will do the needful to get him his entitlement without delay.
In
fact, the financial support so far received by the cops is enough to
take care of his treatment all through, which is why he had to be moved to
the University College Hospital,Ibadan for proper treatment. The
Commissioner of Police Ogun State,CP Abilmajid Ali,has mandated top
senior officers of the command to look after his welfare on regular
basis.
The
Command therefore appeals to the general public to disregard the news
as false and unfounded,as the police will not in anyway toy with the
welfare of any of it's personnel."
