RCCG Suspends Pastor For Inviting Pasuma For Crusade

The Anchor Online has gathered that a three-day crusade of one of the parishes of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), scheduled to hold between October 23 and October 25, has been cancelled and the Pastor of the parish and members of the organizing committee asked to proceed on suspension.
The order reportedly came through the church's provincial headquarters.
The cancellation of the programme was traced to the organization of the crusade which had popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma as a guest artiste.
The Anchor Online's findings revealed that sensitization for the crusade was about to start with handbills bearing Pasuma's picture in circulation. A picture of gospel musician, Tope Alabi also appeared on the handbill as she was also listed as a guest minister along with a former member of Fela's Egypt 80 band.
The planned crusade became public knowledge when the artwork of the handbill leaked, apparently from the printing press.

Checks revealed that the leadership of the church decided to stop the programme because apart from laying a precedence, it might end up being counterproductive. It was also gathered that the parish head did not consult widely enough before embarking on the move.
The Anchor Online has also gathered that the leadership of the church will meet and decide the action to take on the suspended pastor and his members. Sources have also confirmed that the Pastor will definitely face more sanctions.
Pasuma's Media Manager, Afolabi Oyekoya had not responded to messages sent to obtain the musician's reaction as of the time of filing the report.
