Fayose Set To Build Airport in Ekiti


Indications have emerged that plans are already underway by the administration of Governor Peter Ayodele Fayose to construct an airport in Ekiti State. Abimbola Olawumi Olajumoke-Adeniyi, who works on the Governors New Media team posted "Past administrations in Ekiti has tried severally to build an Airport in Ekliti without success, even when the economy of the State and that of the country was impressive. Despite the economy of the country and the paucity of funds in Ekiti, the uncommon Governor, a man who believes that with God, all his dreams are achievable is set to build an airport in Ekiti.


The Construction of the Airport, spanning about 5Km which is to be sited on the Ado-Ekiti, Ijan, Igbemo, Bolorunduro and Araromi-Obu axis, is expected to start very soon and be completed within one year.
The Traditional Rulers whose towns and communities are to be affected in the project attended a meeting with the Governor in his office on acquisition and payment of compesation to the owners of Cash crops that will be affected in the project. The compensation is expected to be paid to the affected individuals within the next one month.
A committee has been set up by the Governor to look into the visibility studies, the architectural designs and compensation of the affected people.
The traditional Rulers pledged their solid support and cooperation and prayed that God in his infinite mercy, who has sent the Governor to Ekiti and has given the prophecy concerning the project long time ago, will work with the Governor to bring the dream to reality.
The Governor reiterated that Personalities in the State have begun the donation of equipments towards the project, amongst whom is Chief Afe Babalola, who who donated two bulldozers to the State government for the commencement of the clearing of the land, as soon as it is approved.
The Governor who noted that the financial situation of the State is not encouraging, reiterated that when there is a will, there is a way. Therefore, being a child of destiny sent and commissioned by God to take Ekiti to the promised land, he said, he has the faith, that God will do it. In his words, he said, my soul has loved the Airport and I believe the grace of God will accomplish it."
