Ogun NIPR holds annual colloquium on national development

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Ogun State chapter, on Thurday  had it's 2015 Colloquium,with a topic "Image Makers' Perceptive on Re-Invention of The Nigerian Nation",which was delivered by a veteran Public Relations Practitioner,Mr Badejo Okusanya at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library,Okemosan, Abeokuta Ogun State under the chairmanship of Professor Layi Osho.

The lead lecturer, in his paper, went down the memory lane of Nigeria's historic democratic evolution, and highlighted major problems confronting national development to include corruption, indiscipline,weak government institutions, lack of patriotism and insecurity.

Mr Badejo Okusanya however proferred solutions to the highlighted challenges and charged Nigeria's government, it's agencies and citizenry to brace up and support President Muhammadu Buhari in his fight to effect changes in our systems. He also charged Nigerians to be disciplined, focused and to embrace the ongoing sanitisation embarked on by the present administration.

The guest speaker,while proffering solutions to insecurity,charged the government and security agencies in the country to work as a team, have a collective data base, introduce forensic investigation with Information Computer Technology. 
The roles of the media, youths, professional bodies, politicians in having a Nigeria of everyone's dream were equally mentioned by the lecturer. He also encouraged the Buhari-led administration to have strong institutions and policies framework and provide good infrastructural facilities.

Many dignitaries who were present at the occasion included the Executive Governnor of Ogun State Sen Ibikunle Amosun,who was represented by his deputy, Chief Mrs Onanuga,the national president of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Dr Rotimi Oladele,Ogun State chairman of NIPR, Mr Tope Adaramola, heads of security agencies, Commissioner of Police Ogun State, CP Abdulmajid Ali, represented by DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, PPRO Ogun State and students of various schools and colleges in the state.

The professional body also added colour to the laudable event by giving out  awards of excellence to some notable Nigerians including the Head of Service, Ogun State Mrs Modupe Adekunle and Iyalode Alaba Lawson, the Iyalode of Yorubaland.
