Effective Policing: Ogun CP Parleys with Council Chairmen

The Commissioner of Police Ogun State, CP Abdulmajid Ali had his maiden security meeting with the Local Government Chairmen in Ogun State in his office on Tuesday.

The meeting,at the instance of the Commissioner of Police, centered on vital security issues in the state including ritual killings, kidnapping, land speculation, cultism, and police fight against land grabbers, cultists, use of unregistered vehicles or motorcycles and other crimes in the state.

CP Ali charged the council chairmen to support the state government and the police command by assisting the police and other security agencies in fighting crimes and other social vices in their respective local government areas as the command has been proactive to many security challenges in the state and will continue to tackle such in Ogun State.

While assuring them of adequate security of lives and property as well as the full support from all officers and men of the command, CP Ali encouraged them to be fully on ground and be more involved in community policing as the command is ready to be referring some community-based conflicts to the local government chairmen in the state.

Responding to the CP's charge, the chairman of the chairmen, Hon Mojeed Ekelojumati of Ijebu North Local Government Council, appreciated the Commissioner of Police for his thoughtfulness. He also lauded the CP for being proactive and for putting together the security meeting with the chairmen, which he described as the 'first of it's kind' together. He assured that the liaison between the police and the council chairmen will go a long way in promoting effective policing and peaceful coexistence of the people of the state.

Other local government chairmen, who reacted to some issues, applauded the Commissioner of Police and the entire officers and men in the command for the new policing styles and smooth operations in Ogun state. They all assured the command of their full supports in all ramifications.
