The Ogun State Police Command has rescued a 97 year-old grandfather, Pa Iposiola Samaye,who was kidnapped in Isire village Ogbere in Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State on Thursday 11th June. He was rescued on Tuesday 16th June, 2015 in Aye Forest Reserve along Ijebu-Ode/Benin expressway in Ogun State during a joint special rescue operation by police operatives attached to the Special Anti Robbery Squad,Ogbere Division,and Ijebu Ode Area
Command which commenced on Monday between 3 am and 5 am.

The
Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, CP Val Ntomchukwu detailed a joint special rescue team to be on the trail of the kidnappers to rescue
the old man and arrest the suspects who had demanded for N20 million ransom from the family of the
victim but eventually agreed on N1 million.
The Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi disclosed to The Anchor Online that the CP met with family members of the victim
and assured them of rescuing the victim provided they were ready to
assist the police to rescue the victim unhurt without any ransom. The
PPRO also stated that the family members cooperated with the police at all levels, hence the
successful rescue operation.
He gave the name of the suspect arrested as Emeka Obi. Adejobi said "other members of the gang escaped" while he also said "efforts are on to arrest the fleeing suspects".

Val Ntomchukwu commended the family of the victim for their belief
in the police and support accorded the police operatives on the field
during the operation that lasted for days. He encouraged people
to always believe in the police and cooperate with them at any point in
time.
In another
development, police operatives attached to Ishara Division of the Command busted a den of suspected kidnappers, also believed to be ritualists and
cannibals at orile Eleposo, Ode-Remo area in Remo North Local
Government Area of Ogun State on Monday 15th June while acting on a tip
off on the suspicious activities of the criminals.
Adejobi disclosed that "the
arrest of these suspected ritualists was in connection with the case of
a missing student of Gateway Polytechnic, Sapade in Ogun State, Miss
Morenikeji Owolabi, a 20 year-old lady who had been missing since 6th of June
but reported to the police on 12th June by her parents who reside in Egbe
New Site, Ijebu Ode". The PPRO went on to state that "the lady, deceased, was killed
and pieced by the ritualists led by one Femi Marcaulay, aka
"Awise", now at large, who owns the den. Some parts of her body were buried in a shallow grave at the shrine, while some pieces of "meat" suspected to be her flesh,and heart roasted were seen in some containers in the shrine".

He continued that "as
a result of these discoveries, police swung into action and have
arrested 5 suspects so far. They include Sotola Wasiu,23,Ali
Lateef, 22, Adeyemi Ademolu,29, Omolaso Taye,21and Damilare
Akinyemi, 22".
While
addressing the people of the area and the
press at the scene on Tuesday, CP Ntomchukwu condemned the criminal and inhuman act and vowed to rid Ogun State of criminals and hoodlums. He also directed that the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, Eleweran, Abeokuta take over the case for proper investigation and charge those involved in the crime to court.

The
police boss sympathized with the family of the
lady, Morenikeji,and her colleagues for the loss and assured them of
justice, stating that the Police will work assiduously to provide adequate
security in the area and in Ogun state in general.
