"We are Ready for April 11 Election", Ogun Security Agencies Declare

Security agencies in Ogun State,under the aegis of the Inter Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security(ICCES),which includes the Independent Electoral Commission(INEC) and National Youths Service Corps,as stakeholders, have come together to put in place all necessary structures and arrangement towards having free, fair, credible and violence free election on Saturday, 11th April.


This assurance came at the meeting of ICCES,which comprises all accredited security agencies, INEC and the NYSC, held at the instance of the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State at the Police Headquarters Eleweran, Abeokuta on Wednesday, 8th April,2015.

Those agencies present at the meeting included the Nigeria Police, Nigerian Army, Nigerain Navy, Nigerian Immigration Service, Prisons Service,Department of Customs, Federal Road Safety Commission, Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, Department of State Services, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

The committee assessed the security arrangement put in place during the last March 28th elections and re-strategized where necessary. Every member of the committee was able to brief the forum on the efforts and challenges faced which were thoroughly discussed with possible solutions.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State,CP Val Ntomchukwu,who is the Chairman of the Inter Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security(ICCES) in Ogun State commended the committee members and stakeholders  for their support as well as the efforts and commitment exhibited during the last elections. He therefore encouraged them to add more pep in making sure the tempo is sustained and even improved upon during the forthcoming elections in the state.

The police boss also encouraged the general public, particularly voters, to come out and cast their votes as there will be adequate security for lives and property of all and sundry, including electoral materials in Ogun State before,during and after the elections.
