Senator Uche Chkwumerije Dies at 75

Former Information Minister and Senator representing Abia North District has passed on.
Senator Uche Chukwumerije, who served as the Minister for Information towards the end of the Babangida administration died on Sunday in a hospital in Abuja. He also served as the Minister for Information in the
Ernest Shonekan-led Interim National Government that ruled Nigeria between August and November 1993.
Chukwumerije was serving his third term as Senator, having been first elected in 2003. He was re-elected in 2007 and 2011.
