Omirin, Others Shun Ekiti Peace Meeting!

The embattled Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon Adewale Omirin and his group were conspicuously absent at the peace meeting held at the instance of the Ekiti Group of Elders on Thursday.
The absence of the 19 lawmakers however did not stop the elders from issuing a communique at the end of the meeting.
Below is the text of the communique issued:

COMMUNIQUE
 The Peace Meeting called by some Ekiti Elders (headed by Aare Afe Babalola) took place few hours back in spite of the decision of the Ekiti 19 lawmakers to boycott it.
The Ekiti Elders (including the state governor and the state's security chiefs) who took turn to express their opinion as regards the present political situation in the state however arrived at the following resolutions:

1. That all participants at the meeting agreed that peace is paramount.
2. That the security chiefs here present gave undertaking that there will be no impartiality in their service while maintaining peace and orderliness at all times.
3. That this meeting, including the service chiefs regretted that the other party led by Dr. Omirin didn't attend this meeting.
4. That the only way to achieve peace is the presence (availability) of all parties involved. In other words, the other party must attend the peace meeting in other to achieve peace in the state.
5. That we agreed to appeal to our brothers led by Dr. Omirin to return to the state and attend any peace meeting which is organised and this time their return will be championed by the security chiefs.
6. It is also agreed that the governor will shift ground if that will bring peace.
7. That a body comprised of Ekiti elders be set up to meet with Ekiti stakeholders on regular intervals.
8. We also agreed from available materials before us(by the Police chief and the director of SSS) that there was no agreement or arrangement that any of the 19 lawmakers would be arrested.
9. It is agreed that if the other party(19 lawmakers) will attend a peace meeting as arranged by us, the governor is prepared to shift ground on contentious issues.
