12 Lawmakers Impeach Kebbi Speaker

Honourable Hassan Shalla, the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly has been impeached. The impeachment which was premised on allegations of breach of trust and accusations that he embezzled allowances of house members was carried out on Tuesday by 12 out of the 24 members of the House.

The Anchor Online gathered that the embattled Speaker had refused the soft-landing offered to him, as he refused to resign. The motion for his impeachment was moved by Hon Aminu Gunbi of Yauri constituency.
Hon. Shalla and 11 other lawmakers were absent from Tuesday's sitting.
Honourable Habib Jega, who was removed in November, 2014 was appointed as the new Speaker.
