Following reactions and allegations of religious bias against the Vice President, Architect Mohammed Namadi Sambo, after his speech at a rally in Niger State, where he allegedly described the People's Democratic Party as the real Muslim Party, his Special Aviser on Media, Alhaji Umar Sani on Wednesday disclosed that the Vice President was quoted out of context by mischief makers.
In a message from Sani, obtained by The Anchor Online, it was stated that "it has come to our attention that some mischievous mediums have decided to misinterpret and quote out of context the speech of the Vice President Arc Mohammed N Sambo in Minna Niger state yesterday. To set the records straight and to correct the misrepresentation it is imperative that what he said be explained to discerning members of the public. What he said at the rally is that he wants to disabuse the minds of innocent people against those who spread mischievous rumors that APC is a Muslim party while PDP is a Christian party.

He stated that in both parties you find adherents of both faiths and that it should not form the basis of any campaign for elections. He noted that APC in fact has more Christians than Muslims in their leadership like their party chairman, their campaign manager and their Vice Presidential candidate while the PDP has only the President as a Christian in the same order which does not confer any advantage to get either party he called on the audience to shun those that what to use religion to solicit for votes. He further stated that in Nigeria the system used in structuring leadership is either a Muslim/Christian ticket or Christian/ Muslim ticket as the case may be. Citing the trend from Tafawa Balewa who worked with Azikiwe successfully through to Shagari and Ekwueme to Obasanjo and Atiku till Dr. Goodluck Jonathan's period".
He called on the people to discountenance such baseless rumors as the handiwork of opposition politicians.
