Fayose Floors Fayemi at Appeal Court

The Court of Appeal, sitting in Abuja, on Monday dismissed the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress ( APC ), challenging the victory of Governor Ayodele Fayose in the June 21, 2014 governorship election held in Ekiti State.
The court, in a unanimous decision held that there was no merit in the appeal.

The court ruled that Fayoose’s impeachment when he first served as the Governor of the state was not a ground for disqualification. The court also pointed out that the issue of certificate had been resolved in the case of AD vs Fayose in 2004.
Mr. Ayo Fayose was returned elected after defeating Governor Kayode Fayemi in all the local government areas in Ekiti State.
