Edwin Clark, Ofonagoro, Okurounmu, Others Call for Jega’s Arrest

Nine days to the much anticipated 2015 presidential election, a group of supporters of Nigeria’s President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, on Thursday called for the resignation of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Attahiru Jega.
The group, which calls itself the “Southern Nigeria People’s Assembly” is led by Chief Edwin Clark. It made the demand during a press briefing on Thursday. Present at the briefing were former Information Minister, Dr. Walter Ofonagoro, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, a former Governor of Anambra State and Senator Femi Okurounmu among others.

The group, which had earlier demanded for the postponement of the elections threatened that the polls will not hold in the Southern part of the country if Jega and INEC decides to go on with it as scheduled. The group also accused Professor Jega of conniving with the Northern Elders Forum in an alleged plot to rig President Jonathan out of office.
