Ibadan Stands Still for Seyi Makinde

. As thugs try to disrupt rally
The crowd was unprecedented as the Social Democratic Party, SDP, on Monday,
Traders, artisans and students attended the rally, in which they pledged their support for Engr. Makinde.
Those who attended the rally included the National Chairman of the SDP, Chief Olu Falae, Chief Nnamdi, the National Treasurer, the National Secretary too was in attendance. Others include Senator Ebenezer Ikenna, the South East Zonal Vice Chairman and Elder Wole Oyelese.
While thanking the crowd of supporters for trooping out, the National Secretary said "if the crowd here is anything to go by, and the enthusiasm we received as we drove down to this venue, then we are just waiting for May 29, 2015 to swear in Seyi Makinde. And with the feelers we have been receiving about the philanthropic nature of Engr. Makinde, if somebody is doing this with his personal resources to better and affect the lives of others, what more if he is saddled with the responsibility of being trusted with the resources of the people? I think the sky is the limit".

Elder Wole Oyelese, a former Governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party too was at the rally. He stated that "I was one of the people that brought PDP to Oyo State but I can tell you categorically that the PDP died when we left. In the coming elections, we will prove that SDP is the party that owns Oyo State". He continued that "the misfortune that befell the PDP is to the advantage of the SDP. Engr. Seyi Makinde is the only candidate that is not controversial among those running for governorship in this state".
He took time to tell the crowd that "imagine someone that couldn't boast of owning N 100,000 before becoming Governor, the same person is now boasting that the money he has now, he and his entire family cannot finish it in a lifetime. Did he inherit the money or where did he get it from?
Elder Oyelese called on all aggrieved governorship aspirants of the PDP to come and join SDP.
Chief Michael Adegbite, a former Chairman of the PDP in Oyo State pointed out that the "PDP is suffering from its misdeeds both in the state and at the federal level. What we are doing here is to emphasise internal democracy within political parties and to launch political party management with decorum. We have come here to launch the playing of the political game according to the rules of the game."
held a mega rally to drum support for the candidates flying the party's flag ahead of the general elections in February. At the well attended rally which took place at Mapo, the National Chairman of the party, Chief Olu Falae handed over the flag to Engr. Seyi Makinde, the party's governorship candidate.
In the course of the rally, a group of thugs came from the Orita Merin end hurling stones and bottles into the crowd. They were however repelled by the police who prevented the crowd from going after them. Order was restored after some minutes and the rally went on.
The Chairman, Chief Olu Falae handed over the flag to Engr. Seyi Makinde who said "no matter how hard they try, we shall prevail. Oyo State shall be liberated. We will be out of bondage. This is the power of light against the power of darkness and I know that light will prevail. Let us put them to shame on February 14. They can make trouble here but on election day, they won't be able to. On February 28, I urge you to come out again and vote for me and our other candidates. Thank you and God bless you all."
