"Hold Fayose Responsible if His Advert Stokes Anger"- E-11

E-11, a group of professionals of Ekiti extraction on Wednesday dissociated the people of the state from the advertorial placed in some national dailies on Monday by the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Peter Ayo Fayose. In a statement signed by the Chairman OF E-11, Mr. Femi Ajiniran, the group asserted that "the people of Ekiti are cautious, courteous and cultured". Ajiniran also stated that "Ekiti people treat every human creaion with dignity and respect".
Below is the full text of the statement:

" We read with dismay adverts placed by Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose in two national dailies on Monday, January 19, 2015. The adverts compared the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Major General Muhammadu Buhari with Nigeria’s past Heads of State of North-west origin, who died in office between 1976 and 2010. Fayose raised concerns on the state of Buhari’s health, which according to him, might lead to another State Burial.
We categorically state that the views expressed in the adverts do not represent the position of Ekiti people in any way and by any standard. The people of Ekiti State are cautious, courteous, cultured and always treat every human creation irrespective of ethnic, political and religious background with dignity and respect. This is, also, in line with the spirit and letters of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Rather the view in the adverts is completely Fayose’s personal opinion and that of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). As a matter of fact, Fayose expressed the view at President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign rally in Ado-Ekiti last week. No PDP leader called him to order for making unholy statement about the APC presidential candidate in the presence of President Jonathan and other PDP chieftains. So, the advert is an expression of the party leadership.
Aside, Fayose’s statement violates the non-violence clause of the Electoral Act, 2011. It, also, breaches the peace agreement facilitated by former Secretary-General of United Nations, Mr. Kofi Annan and former Secretary-General of Commonwealth, Sir Emeka Anyaoku last week. After the landmark peace agreement, Fayose sponsored this advert of acrimony and discrimination from the purse of Ekiti State at about N30 million.
We, therefore, dissociate the people of Ekiti State from this advert. The advert was placed by Ayodele Fayose as an individual and a chieftain of the ruling party, who interest he sought to protect. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Nigeria Police should hold Fayose and PDP responsible if the advert eventually stokes anger in some parts of Nigeria. The people of Ekiti are not acrimonious and discriminatory.
We are peace-loving. So, we cannot denigrate Nigeria’s past leaders, who contributed to the nation-building differently. We are not in any way against the North; neither are we against any geopolitical zone in the country. We believe firmly in the principle of equality as espoused in the 1999 Constitution".
