Curfew in Maiduguri as Military Pounds Boko Haram

An indefinite curfew was on Sunday morning imposed on Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State as military forces pursue retreating members of the Boko Haram terrorist group. The curfew takes immediate effect, according to a message from the Defence Headquarters.
The military responded to simultaneous attempts to overrun Monguno and Maiduguri by terrorists with coordinated air and land operations. The military is reported to be in pursuit of the terrorists.

Morale is believed to be high on the side of the Nigerian forces with the recent delivery of military hardware including choppers and well fortified armoured personnel carriers.
The attempt to overrun the Borno State capital is coming less than 24 hours after President Jonathan's visit.
