Sat Guru Maharaj Ji, was recently honoured in Ile-Ife by the International Council for Obatala Religion. Venue was the Yemoo Groove Hall, in the premises of the National
Museum, Ile Ife while the event was the first Obatala International Conference.
In the course of the conference, held on January 15, the award of Omoloju Obatala Agbaye was
conferred on Satguru Maharaj Ji by
the International Council.
Maharaj Ji was recognized for the award primarily for his
silent revolutionized the primordial concept of tradition in Nigeria.
While welcoming the awardee to the venue of the event, the Obalesun
Obatala Agbaye who is also the Oloja Iranje Idita Ife, Oba Isoro Dada expressed
joy and thanked Sat Guru Maharaj Ji for honouring their invitation. He
noted that Maharaj Ji's manifestation has re-written the history of creation
with the black man as the origin of the entire human race.
Chief Dr. Olawale Idowu Mogesunwon in his lecture titled: "The importance of Obatala in Human race", said all over the world, the culture and religion of the people has always been a cornerstone for
socio-political development in all its ramifications and any attempt to relegate it to the background is always full of problems with disastrous consequences. He went further that "every single society constituting a homogeneous entity has got his own cultural ideas and cultural behaviour. Such cultural ideas and behaviour often evolve historically. Culture, therefore, is the totality of a way of life
evolved by a people in an attempt to meet challenges of living in the environment which gives order and meaning to their social, political, economic, aesthetic and religious norms and modes of organization thus distinguishing a people from their neighbours." He went on that “if culture per se is theoretical, people’s festivals are the practical aspect of the culture whose social economic events of years are re-enacted in a dramatic form signifying unity of purpose.

Festivals, therefore, portray the concrete historical past of
a people to a subtle dramatic sensation bringing out the past achievements of
man. Festivals are born not made since they grow organically within and from a
specific society. Since the beginning of history, cultural festivals have
served as vehicles of socio-economic expression", he said.
He went on to emphasize that the leaders of mankind headed by Obatala descended from heaven and established Ile-Ife as the first city. This, he said happened after Olodumare had finished the job of creation in heaven and decided to create the world with Ile-Ife as the centre. He also disclosed that Olodumare commissioned Obatala to mould heads of human beings in preparation for their movement to the earth. He averred that Obatala headed the contingent of leaders of mankind who founded the city of "One family love" called "Otu-Ife" metamorphosed as follows "Otu-Ife; Ife-Oodaye; Ile-Ife Oye-Agbo.

Satguru Maharaj Ji thanked the Council and its members for
the honour bestowed on him. He assured them that the title given him
would be properly utilized for the good of mankind, especially the
International Council for Obatala Religion.
"My coming is basically to free my nucleus children
from the bondage of the white man’s slavery and undue oppression perpetuated on
them", he said. He also made it known to them that his door is
always opened to them every day for any assistance.
