Amaechi, Tinubu, Aregbesola, Others Storm Ibadan for Buhari

The crowd that thronged Mapo Hall, Ibadan to welcome the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress on Thurssday was massive. Top members of the party also came in to urge people in Ibadan and Oyo State to vote for the party's candidates in the general elections coming up in February.
Senators Bukola Saraki and Bola Tinubu were at the rally, so also were Governors Rotimi Amaechi, Rauf Aregbesola and Adams Oshiomole of Rivers, Osun and Edo States. Former Governor Fayemi and Chief Odigie Oyegun were also among the party bigwigs that hosted General Buhari and Prof Osinbajo, his running mate.

At the rally, Governor Amaechi noted that General Buhari's experience is needed, especially to curb corruption in the country. "They said we put an old man as our presidential candidate, age comes with experience. If an experienced man was there, we wouldn’t be suffering what we are suffering now. We would not have missed $ 20 billion and then the President said ‘ah, no, its $ 10.2 billion’. Whether it is 20 or 10.2, stealing is worse, corruption is worse". He also charged people to ensure that they get their Permanent Voters' Cards and vote.
Governor Adam's Oshiomole corroborated Amaechi's speech, he said "I lived here in Ibadan many years ago and we can see the changes my brother, Ajimobi has brought. If Ajimobi can change Oyo State, the way Asiwaju and Fashola changed Lagos,so Buhari will change Nigeria. The way we changed Edo and banished the godfathers, that is how Buhari will change Nigeria and banish all the corrupt people in government. The way Rotimi has driven away all the miscreants in Port Harcourt, that is how Buhari will change all those who have run Nigeria down over the past sixteen years. I know that here in Ibadan, every family has at least two graduates who have no jobs because PDP has killed our factories. All the industries in Ikeja, PDP killed them, all the industries in Ojota, PDP killed them, all the industries in Kano, Sharada and Bompai, PDP killed them, all the industries in Kaduna, PDP killed them, even where I was working, PDP killed it. Therefore, this is the moment of change. I speak to you as a former President of workers."
He went on that "PDP has run out of lies, they promised what they will never deliver. Today, they are asking you to pay what they call fixed charge for electricity, when they give you darkness, they collect money from you. We must stop the PDP, our crude oil is stolen from the source, everybody is confused, police has no uniform, the military has no equipment, everybody is lamenting."
In a statement issued earlier, General Buhari expressed optimism that Nigeria will move forward again. The statement reads in part,“this is to appreciate the people of this great country for the wide acceptance to vote for change in the coming election. The issues of corruption, insecurity, lies, weak economy among several atrocities and damage that have been done to the country are enough reasons for change.
The saying that you can fool the people sometime, but you can’t fool the people all the time is applicable here.
After nearly 16 years of democracy, what we have today is unacceptable: our youths are roaming the streets with no job and poverty visible everywhere; the missing $20 billion oil money, the missing Chibok girls, the ill-equipped military to fight insurgency, corruption in high places, lack of vision and clueless regime of governance are not acceptable to Nigerians.”
