Suleiman Abba Confirmed as Substantive IGP

Suleiman Abba, who was until Tuesday morning, the Acting Inspector General of Police has been confirmed as the substantive IG. He was appointed to replace Mohammed Dikko Abubakar.
His appointment was confirmed on Tuesday at the Council of State meeting, held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting had in attendance former Nigerian rulers, President Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, Chief Ernest Shonekan and General Yakubu Gowon (rtd).
Abba's appointment came days after his controversial withdrawal of policemen attached to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Tambuwal who decamped to the All Progressives Congress from the Peoples Democratic Party.
