AFCON 2015: Eagles Out Despite Aluko's Brace

South Africa's national side, Bafana Bafana on Wednesday shocked Nigeria's Super Eagles at the Transformation Stadium in Uyo. The Super Eagles dictated the pace of the game in the first few minutes of the game; forcing the Bafana Bafana to defend. Ahmed Musa kept the hardworking South African keeper busy as he had to make three saves in two minutes. Ike Uche's shot too suffered a similar fate.

The South Africans however regained their composure and took the lead in the 42nd minute as Tukebo Rante took the ball and rounded Nigeria's left backs before ramming the ball past a helpless Vincent Enyeama.
What could have been the last chance of the first half was ruled offside, though Ike Uche had ballooned the ball over the bar.
The second half resumed with the Eagles all out to seek an equalizer. They paid dearly for it when Tukebo snatched the ball and sliced through the defence and beat Vincent Enyeama before carefully tucking the ball into the Nigerian net.
The introduction of Sone Aluko did not do much to change the game as the South African defence remained rock solid until he scored from a rebound in the 70th minute.
South Africa had to play with a man down after one of their key midfielders was sent off for a foul challenge on Juwon Oshaniwa. 5 minutes later, Nigeria's coach, Stephen Keshi pulled out Kenneth Omeruo for Aaron Samuel to boost the attack.
Nigeria mounted pressures playing corner kicks in quick succession. Nothing seemed to work until Aluko scored again in added time with a right footed shot. The Hull City forward's goals were however not enough to earn the Super Eagles a place in Equatorial Guinea as Congo pipped Sudan 1-0 in the other qualifying game.
