Keshi Sacked, Amodu Named as Eagles' Coach

Wednesday's 3-1 victory over Sudan was not enough to save the job of Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, the Head Coach of the Super Eagles. The Nigeria Football Federation has relieved him of the job and appointed Amodu
Shaibu in his place.

A communique issued in the early hours of Thursday after a meeting of the NFF Board, also named Coaches Salisu Yusuf, Gbenga Ogunbote and Aloysius Agu as assistants for the new coach.
Keshi is the first Nigerian and second African to win the African Cup of Nations as player and coach.
The Eagles' performance in recent times had been a cause of worry to most Nigerians as the team had managed just a win in almost 10 matches.
At the Abuja National Stadium on Wednesday, fans shouted "you must go" on sighting Keshi.
Shaibu who has been chosen to replace him has also coached the Super Eagles before. He won Nigeria a place at the World Cup before he was replaced, years back.
Coach Samson Siasia, another former Super Eagles' player and coach, was named as the new coach of the U-23 team.
