Bafana Bafana Captain Shot Dead!

The goalkeeper and captain of Bafana Bafana, South Africa'a national side, Senzo Meyiwa was shot and killed on Sunday night. The incident occurred Vosloorus, a town near Johannesburg.


Meyiwa was until his death the shot stopper for Orlando Pirates. While confirming the incident, the club posted on its website : "the Orlando Pirates Football Club family has learned with sadness about the untimely death of our number one goalkeeper and current captain Senzo Meyiwa."

The team chairman, Dr. Irvin Khoza, said on the website: "This is a sad loss whichever way you look at it -- to Senzo's family, his extended family, Orlando Pirates and to the nation."

The South African Police stated that the shooting occurred inside a house with seven people inside and that three suspects fled.
