2nd Bread Exhibition Holds in Ibadan

For the second time in its history, Ibadan played host to a Bread Exhibition. The event, put together by Exquisito Confectioneries took place at the PentonRise Events Centre in Bodija.

Exhibitors and customers had a great time as breads in different forms were on display.
Apart from drawing people from different sectors, the event was graced by the Commissioner for Applied Science, Dapo Lam Adesina, a popular musician, Otunba Femo Lancaster and Peteru, a comedian. Taiwo Ibikunle and Gbenga Adekanbi too were in from the movie world.
While speaking on the exhibition, the CEO of Exquisito Confectioneries, Deola Layade poited out that idea came as a result of a "gap" she spotted in the industry. She particularly mentioned the huge gap between the bakers and the consumers. "People need to know what is happening in the bread industry and the consumers also need to know the challenges the bakers are also facing. So I decided to fill in the gap", she said.

On whether there were fears about holding the event in Ibadan, Ms Layade said "we knew there would be challenges and of course we knew we would overcome the challenges. Its more like I'm rebranding Ibadan", she said.
She also gave an inkling that the exhibition might just be the beginning of other things to come as she said "bread consumers should expect rebranding in the industry, they should expect more innovation, they should expect more initiative. They should see more brilliant ideas about bread, they should see things that we see when we go abroad, they should start seeing them in our supermarkets. They should start seeing people opening artisan bakeries and we want cooperation from people. Its all about ideas, not just about Agege bread and sliced bread. Now people can think beyond what we have and create jobs in that line."
The high point of the event was the presentation of the Bread Connoisseurs Magazine. When called to unveil the magazine, Mr. Dapo Lam Adesina described Ms Layade's effort as "commendable". He also said the magazine will spearhead a "revolution" which will change the face of baking in Oyo State.
