Police Arrest "Witches" & Cleric Accomplices in Ogun!

The Anti Robbery Section of the Department of Criminal Investigation of the Ogun State Police Command, on Sunday busted a den of fetish fraudsters in Omusorin, a village near Ofada in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the State.
The policemen arrested 4 suspects around 10 am while the ring leader suspect escaped.

In recent time, the command has been clamping down on these unscrupulous elements pretending to be traditional healers who dupe innocent Nigerians of their hard earned belongin
gs in the state. The latest arrest came barely a week after 11 suspects were arrested when policemen busted their hideout at Eruku near Ewekoro town in Ogun State.

According to a statement signed on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State by the PPRO, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, “the suspects arrested at Omusorin village have been in the business for a long time but the long arm of the law caught up with them when a couple who had been duped of N 14.5m was alerted during the parade of the previous suspects arrested at Eruku recently on a television program and the couple decided to call the attention of the police to the activities of the suspects before it was discovered that the couple had been duped. This prompted the police team to place them under surveillance before they were eventually arrested at the scene.

The suspects include Wasiu Ajani,35, a crippled man, Sheu Salami,40,Oriyomi Risikat,47 and Babalola Sola,38,. Each of the suspects plays a role in the dirty business.
The two women play the role of 'White Witches’, pretending to be witches who descend from heaven to deceive their victims, while the Sheu, a cleric, gives fake or false vision or revelation to their intending victims in commercial cars or at a designed or planned places or already hypnotized victim, as the situation may be. The suspects have all confessed to the crime”.

The Commissioner of Police Ogun State CP Ikemefuna Okoye while parading the suspects at the village described the recent development as unbelievable and highly criminal. He condemned such acts and promised to put all his officers and men in the command on alert to be on the lookout for people who engage themselves in this act ,as the command will leave no stone unturned to checkmate their excesses.

The Commissioner also advised the host communities to always be conscious of people like these, and alert the police whenever they notice the emergence of the so-called traditional healing centers. CP Okoye assured the general public of adequate investigation and prosecution of all cases handled by the command. He ordered that the suspects be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
