"Pay & Apologize To El-Rufai", Court Orders SSS

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ruled that the Department of State Services (DSS) should apologize to former Minister of the FCT, Malam Nasir el-Rufai and also pay him the sum of N 2 million in damages for unlawful detention.

The former Minister sought redress after he was disallowed from moving out of his hotel room at Finotel Hotel in Awka Anambra State during the governorship election held in Anambra State on November 15, 2013.
The former Minister has become what some call a "regular customer" of the SSS. On some occasions, he has been stopped and questioned either at the point of departure or arrival at the airport.
