Osun Tribunal Dismisses APC's Application

The Governorship Election Tribunal Osun State, on Friday dismissed an application by the All Progressive Congress to stop the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from inspecting election materials used during the Aug. 9 poll.
The APC had filed an application on August 28 asking the Osun State High Court to set aside an order given by the Justice I.M Bako chaired panel that granted the request of the
PDP to inspect election materials.
The panel now chaired by Justice Sulaiman Ambrusa however held that the earlier order given by the Bako-led panel was in order.
Ambrusa said the earlier order was granted by the panel on unambiguous ground and in compliance with the Electoral Act.
He said the process of filing was on the point of law by the PDP and that the order given by the panel was in line with the law.
The Chairman of the panel thus dismissed the application of the APC.
Counsel to the PDP, Abiodun Adeogun thereafter filed a fresh application that his client’s petition should be pasted on the tribunal’s notice board.
He stated that the order given by the panel on Thursday that the petition should be served on Governor Aregbesola by pasting it on the gate of the Government House was prevented by security men.
He therefore urged that the respondent should be served by having it pasted on the tribunal’s notice board in view of the opposition that rose against pasting it on the Government House gate.
The tribunal granted the application and ordered that the governor should be served the PDP petition by having it pasted on the tribunal’s notice board.
