South African athlete, Oscar Pistorius was on Friday found guilty of culpable homicide in the shooting of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp on February 14, 2013.Justice Mazipa in her ruling held that the athlete used
excessive force and acted too hastily as he shot four times into the toilet cubicle.
The athlete had claimed he thought an intruder was in the house.
While he was acquitted of an illegal ammunition charge, Pistorius was also fou
nd guilty of firing a gun in a restaurant.
The judge ruled that Mr. Pistorius is to remain on bail until October 13 when his sentence will be pronounced. He will be staying at his uncle's residence, having sold all his properties.
