Defence HQ Recants, Says Its Unsure of Chibok Girls' Release

Minutes after the news went viral that two bus loads of girls abducted in Chibok, Borno State had been released, the Defence Headquarters retracted its earlier statement in which it confirmed the release of the girls.

Chris Olubolade, the Defence Headquarters spokesman who had told some media houses that a yet to be determined number of the girls were driven in two buses to the Maimalari Barracks called back after about half an hour to withdraw the statement.
He stated that there was difficulty with establishing contact with Maiduguri and that he was no longer sure the girls driven into the barracks were rescued.
The Anchor's investigation revealed that the girls in the bus were actually those going to Kaduna to continue their education.
